Many indigent women who are released from prison face the challenge of traveling on a Greyhound bus with inadequate clothing. They are given clothes that do not fit them properly, that are too revealing, or that are not suitable for where they are going. They have to carry their few possessions in a laundry bag provided by the prison. They also have to share the bus with men who have also been released from prison, which can be very uncomfortable and triggering for women who have experienced sexual abuse. Prison may have exacerbated their trauma and made them more vulnerable to further harm or bad decisions.
